Facebook is changing – what does this mean for businesses?

Last week Facebook announced changes to the way it will rank photos, posts and videos in its user’s news feeds. Its aim – to put what family and friends say first! Basically, you’ll begin to see more posts from your friends and less videos of food being made or cute animals.

What this means for businesses

Well this will lead to those videos of cute kittens and puppies, as well as business pages being less visible.

Adam Mosseri, the head of Facebooks News Feed team said on Thursday that showing more posts from family and friends “means we’ll show less public content, including videos and other posts from publishers or businesses.”

However, it is not all bad news for businesses. If your Facebook is fully optimised and you have a loyal following then you will still maintain a high presence on Facebook.

Options will be added where its users can prioritise the pages they see. Therefore, if anything it is now more important your posts are engaging and eye catching. As well as your Facebook being managed right, with a focus on organic growth.

Why is it even more important your posts are engaging?

As well as people being able to prioritise the pages they see, their friends will also see these pages. Why? Well Adam Mosseri also explained on Thursday that posts your Facebook connections find engaging and comment on repeatedly will also rise to the top of your news feed.

How will you get people to comment on your posts more – simple make sure your posts are engaging!

Does this change Moola Marketing’s Facebook approach?

No, it doesn’t change our approach to social media management. Here at our office in Wolverhampton we focus on organic reach and growth on social media.

What does this mean?

We don’t pay for you to gain fake friends, we push engaging content that gets likes, comments, shares and follows naturally. This means that you will still be on the news feeds of Facebook users without having to be prioritised or pay a premium.

Therefore, if you want your business to thrive in this new era of Facebook can you afford to not use Moola Marketing?
